Why We Groom

Why We Groom
We provide a wide range of services covering all your dog grooming needs under one roof. Whether it’s your puppy’s first groom or your dog’s regular “wash & dry”, our bespoke service is based on breed characteristics, your preferences and your pet’s own nature and health, we can provide the perfect package at competitive and affordable rates.

All our canine grooming equipment and tools are professional-salon standard and of course we are professional dog groomers as well as life-long dog lovers.

HEALTH CHECK

Your dog’s welfare is our number one priority, so no matter how well we already know him or her, we will always carry out a health check at each grooming session, looking for any common “dog” issues such as signs of allergies or eczema or any specific issues common to your dog’s breed.  If flea or tick treatment bathing is advised – we’ll contact you about it first before starting treatment.   We’ll advise you quickly of anything that needs your (or your vet’s) attention.

PUPPY PACKAGE

All puppies need to get used to the big world out there as soon as possible, to help them deal with noise, people and all the new sensations they haven’t yet experienced – and to help them blossom into “good dog citizens”.  So grooming your puppy as soon as possible after his or her vaccinations is an ideal way to help with this “puppy socialisation” and getting them used to the sights, sounds and smells of the dog grooming salon!  It’s also of course the best thing for puppy’s coat as it grows into adulthood, to have been groomed properly from an early age.  Just as with nervous dogs, we’ll never rush grooming your pup and will always handle him or her with plenty of TLC, of course our regular “health check” will apply as standard.

WASH & DRY

Dog bathing in our professional hydrobath, using an appropriate shampoo that is natural and kind to your dog’s skin and a conditioner as necessary or requested.

Drying - each dog is dried to best fit their need taking in consideration their breed and coat type using our top of the range professional dryers whilst gently using brushes appropriate to your dog’s size & coat; this also helps remove any remaining loose hair.

This service is also ideal for in between full grooms and it can help keep your dog’s coat in top condition and matt-free.

DE-SHEDDING TREATMENT

Double undercoated breeds such as Border Collies and Golden Retrievers can shed heavily during different seasons.  Our de-shedding treatment can reduce this by 60% – 80% in turn providing healthier skin and coat growth.

For further information on de-shedding treatment feel free to contact us.

HAND STRIPPING

This is a specialist technique used mainly on wire-haired breeds such as Border Terriers etc. This technique is the process of pulling each individual dead hair by hand “no clippers/scissors” therefore can be time-consuming which reflects in the price. Main advantages for this is to help keep your dog’s coat texture and colour.

This process is not suitable for every dog, to make sure this treatment is suited for your dog please feel free to contact us.

Styling

Clipping – Styling your dog’s coat by clipping is popular for all breeds.  We can clip according to your requirements.   Each clip style will be tidied up with the scissors to give even cleaner finish.  We recommend a “clipping” every 6 – 8 weeks with the owner brushing regularly in between visits.

Scissoring – Scissoring is a specialist technique needing an expert hand, shaping and sculpturing the coat in to your desired style.  Compare to clipping, scissoring a time consuming procedure which can reflect in price.  Ideal for curly coats, such as Poodles, Bichon Frise and crossbreeds.  We recommend a “scissoring” every 3 – 4 weeks with the owner brushing regularly in between visits.

Nail Clipping

Nail clipping is an important part of our overall grooming service and should be done regularly either by your groomer or vet.

Overgrown nails can become painful for dogs and lead to health issues.

Ear / Eye Cleaning

These are all a standard part of our overall service at each grooming session.

Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning

A regularly scheduled oral hygiene routine is the best way to protect your pet’s dental health.
